Hi! I’m Dr. Shirley Chan-Ramirez, but you can simply call me Dr. Chan. As a mom of two myself, I understand the joys and challenges of parenthood, and it’s this understanding that fuels my passion as a Chan Doctor. Being a pediatrician is truly rewarding because I love caring for children; their smiles brighten my day! I am also deeply committed to providing reassurance and support to parents, building strong, lasting relationships with families is the most fulfilling part of my work.
My journey into specializing in lactation support began with my own breastfeeding experiences. Facing difficulties personally gave me a profound appreciation for the invaluable assistance of lactation consultants. I was so inspired by the help I received in overcoming my breastfeeding hurdles that I pursued extensive training and became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2017. Furthering my dedication to this crucial field, in 2024, I achieved board certification in Breastfeeding and Lactation Medicine (NABBLM-C). This specialized medical certification allows me to expertly diagnose and treat a wide range of breastfeeding medical conditions affecting both mothers and their babies.

My personal experiences with my own children, both of whom had posterior tongue-ties, highlighted just how significantly tongue-ties can impact babies and their families. Recognizing the challenges and frustrations families face, I sought out specialized training in tongue-tie correction. In 2018, I had the privilege of learning directly from Dr. Bobby Ghaheri, a renowned expert in tongue-tie procedures, shadowing him to master his refined technique. Since then, performing tongue-tie procedures has become an integral part of my practice. It is incredibly rewarding to help infants regain proper feeding function and, in turn, alleviate the stress, exhaustion, and sleepless nights experienced by their families due to infant feeding difficulties.
Driven by a genuine desire to serve families with thorough, empathetic, and compassionate care, I established Blossom Pediatrics and Lactation in 2021. As your dedicated chan doctor, I am committed to providing exceptional pediatric care for your children, guiding and supporting you throughout your parenting journey. My specialized expertise in lactation and tongue-tie is here to offer crucial support to families facing these specific challenges, bringing much-needed relief and peace of mind.
