My recent visit to Doctors Care in Greer, SC, with my daughter seeking an X-ray for her injured ankle was nothing short of a nightmare. As someone unfamiliar with urgent care facilities, I walked in, unaware of their apparent preference for online check-ins. This naivety led to an excruciatingly long wait – over two hours just to be called back. The appalling conditions in the waiting area should have been my first clue to turn around and leave. There was blood on the floor, a significant amount, indicating someone had been injured and bleeding, yet the staff seemed completely unfazed, making no effort to clean it even after being alerted.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, we were led to a room. We answered the routine questions, only to then be informed that the doctor on duty was sick. This revelation was particularly infuriating because it was clear they were aware of the doctor’s absence long before they called us back. It felt like a cruel charade, as if they were just trying to manage the overwhelming number of waiting patients and were unsure how to handle the situation. When I voiced my concern about the extensive wait time and pleaded for assistance, the nurse’s reaction was dismissive and unprofessional. She simply left us in the room, joining the other staff members, and I could clearly overhear them discussing me with blatant disregard and a complete lack of empathy. The nurse never returned to even acknowledge us.
Instead, an X-ray technician was sent in. He informed us that we could seek care at another Doctors Care location. I was utterly speechless and frankly, insulted. There was no apology for the unacceptable wait, the unsanitary environment, or the misleading information about seeing a doctor. The only semblance of care offered was the X-ray technician wrapping my daughter’s ankle, a minor consolation in the face of such gross incompetence and indifference. The entire experience was so shocking and disturbing that I vow to never again step foot in a Doctors Care facility. In my opinion, they are unfit to treat patients. The level of unprofessionalism displayed at Doctors Care Greer Sc was astounding and frankly, words fail to adequately express my utter disappointment and disgust. This is a place to avoid at all costs if you value your health and expect even a basic level of care and respect.
