My recent visit to Doctors Care in Greer, SC, was unfortunately a very negative experience, and it’s important for others to be aware of what I encountered. Hoping to get an X-ray for my daughter’s injured ankle, I walked into the facility, unaware of their procedures for walk-in patients. This was my first time at any urgent care, and it certainly left a lasting bad impression.
The first issue was the excessive wait time. Despite being a walk-in, the wait stretched beyond two hours just to be called back from the lobby. Adding to the concerning environment, there was blood on the floor in the waiting area, a significant amount, which staff had been alerted to but made no attempt to clean. This lack of basic hygiene was a major red flag and should have prompted me to leave immediately.
Eventually, we were shown to a room and asked some preliminary questions. It was at this point that we were informed the on-call doctor was sick – information the staff apparently had before even calling us back from the lengthy wait. This felt incredibly misleading, as if we were being processed without any real intention of being seen by a doctor at this location. It seemed the staff were overwhelmed by the crowded lobby of waiting patients and unsure how to manage the situation effectively.
When I expressed my concern about the extended wait time and requested assistance, the nurse simply left us in the room. I could overhear staff conversations where they discussed my situation with a dismissive attitude, showing a clear lack of empathy or concern. The nurse never returned to our room. Instead, an X-ray technician came in, not to perform an X-ray, but to tell us we would need to go to another Doctors Care location to be seen.
This news was delivered without apology or any real explanation. The technician did, to his credit, wrap my daughter’s ankle, which was the only positive action taken during our entire visit. The whole experience was shocking and unprofessional, and I will certainly never visit another Doctors Care facility again. The level of unprofessionalism and lack of patient care at this Doctors Care in Greer, SC, was astounding and frankly, unacceptable. They should not be entrusted with patient care in this manner.
