Following his medical degree, Dr. Zaidi pursued rigorous post-graduate training in the United States. He completed a combined internship and residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Penn State University Hershey Medical Center. Demonstrating his commitment to comprehensive care, he served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine at Penn State, further honing his leadership and clinical skills. His pursuit of specialized cardiac expertise led him to Ohio, where he undertook fellowships in both Pediatric Cardiology and Adult Cardiovascular Disease at the esteemed Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University Medical Center. These five years of intensive fellowship training included a focused specialization in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD), marking him as a true expert in this complex area.

Before his move to New York, Dr. Zaidi held the position of Director of Research at the Columbus Ohio Adult Congenital Heart (COACH) Disease program, a collaborative program between Nationwide Children’s Hospital and The Ohio State University. During this time, he actively contributed to numerous national multicenter trials, advancing the understanding and treatment of congenital heart disease. In January 2014, Dr. Zaidi transitioned to the North East, assuming the directorship of the Montefiore Adult Congenital Heart (MAtCH) Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension Program at the Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart & Vascular Care and The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.
Currently, Dr. Zaidi is a valued faculty member at the Zena and Michael A. Wiener Cardiovascular Institute and The Mount Sinai Children’s Heart Center. Since joining on January 1st, 2019, he serves as Professor of Medicine and Pediatrics, Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Center, Director of the Pediatrics to Adult Transition of Care Program, and Director of Academic Affairs for the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. His contributions to the medical community extend beyond patient care to include authorship of numerous peer-reviewed publications and frequent speaking engagements at national and international conferences.
