Dr. Travis Stork’s path to television was far from conventional. A magna cum laude graduate of Duke University and an Alpha Omega Alpha graduate from the University of Virginia, holding accolades like Phi Beta Kappa, Dr. Stork’s academic achievements are undeniable. However, it was his telegenic presence that first caught the eye of casting directors, leading him to ABC’s “The Bachelor.” This foray into television opened doors, and Dr. Stork soon became a regular contributor on “Dr. Phil.” It was this platform that eventually led to his pivotal role on “The Doctors,” a show conceived by Jay McGraw.

Dr. Stork embodies the show’s mission, stating, “What I try to do on the show is teach and share with people all of the little things they can do to improve their health.” Living in Colorado, he actively practices what he preaches, incorporating cycling into his commute and embracing outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, and skiing. His approach on “The Doctors” resonates deeply with viewers. “I think our show has really empowered people,” he explains. “Viewers tell me they feel more knowledgeable and more excited about their health rather than intimidated or even terrified.”

Dr. Jim Sears: The Pediatrician Who Embraces Experimentation

Dr. Jim Sears comes from a lineage of medical expertise as the son of a renowned pediatrician. While comfortable speaking to groups and leading clinics, Dr. Sears was new to the world of television when he joined “Dr. Phil.” Initially known on “The Doctors” for his pediatric focus, Dr. Sears has surprised audiences and himself by becoming the show’s adventurous “human guinea pig.”

From bungee jumping to shark diving, Dr. Sears embraces challenges head-on for the sake of demonstrating health-related topics and pushing his own boundaries. “I’m apparently a guy who is willing to do pretty much anything if you put a camera on me,” Dr. Sears admits. “I didn’t know that about myself.” His willingness to take risks was evident early on when he volunteered to swallow a camera pill, a feat Dr. Stork politely declined. This adventurous spirit has become a hallmark of his contributions to “The Doctors,” with producers constantly seeking new and daring segments for him. “Pretty soon the producers realized they would have a hard time finding stuff I wouldn’t do. They try to come up with stuff and so far they have not been successful.”

Dr. Andrew Ordon: The Plastic Surgeon with a Broad Medical Perspective

Unlike Dr. Stork and Dr. Sears, Dr. Andrew Ordon was already familiar with television when he joined “The Doctors.” A practicing plastic surgeon with appearances on programs like ABC’s “20/20,” “Montel Williams,” “Rachael Ray,” “Phil Donahue,” and “Entertainment Tonight,” Dr. Ordon was no stranger to the camera. “I always thought if the opportunity came up it could be something I would like to do,” Dr. Ordon reflects. “But I did not actively pursue it.”

A connection through his son, who attended high school with Jordan McGraw (son of Phil McGraw and brother of Jay McGraw), led to an audition and ultimately a long-standing role on “The Doctors.” While his expertise in plastic surgery and makeovers remains a part of his contributions, Dr. Ordon’s role has expanded. He addresses a wide range of medical topics, drawing upon his background in ear, nose, and throat issues, as well as skin care and general surgery. His involvement in charitable trips, often highlighted on the show, further showcases his commitment to health beyond the studio. Dr. Ordon believes the show’s appeal lies in its approachability and informative nature. “What I always hear from viewers is that we’re giving them good information, but we also seem like we are having fun with it,” he says.

These doctors, with their diverse backgrounds and engaging personalities, are the heart of “The Doctors” show. They bring a wealth of medical knowledge and a passion for helping viewers live healthier lives, making complex medical information accessible and empowering for everyone.
