His commitment to eye care began during his time at the University of Texas-Austin, where he earned Dean’s List honors for academic excellence and received accolades for his science instruction to elementary students. He pursued his medical degree at A.T. Still University in Missouri, followed by an Ophthalmology residency at Oklahoma State University, completed in 1996. Dr. Willman’s particular interest in glaucoma and cataract surgery led him to undertake a specialized Glaucoma fellowship at the University of Louisville.
Following his fellowship, Dr. Willman returned to his alma mater, A.T. Still University, as an Assistant Professor. He practiced in Missouri for four years before moving to North Carolina in 2002, where he became a partner in a private practice for 13 years.
