He pursued his medical degree at A.T. Still University in Missouri, followed by an Ophthalmology residency at Oklahoma State University, completed in 1996. Following his fellowship, Dr. Willman returned to his alma mater, A.T. Still University, as an Assistant Professor. He practiced in Missouri for four years before moving to North Carolina in 2002, where he became a partner in a private practice for 13 years.
