Dr. Goodwin’s academic journey began at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, graduating magna cum laude. He then pursued his medical aspirations at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois, obtaining his medical degree. Further enhancing his leadership and administrative skills, Dr. Goodwin completed an executive certificate program at the prestigious Northwest Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, Illinois.
His post-graduate medical training included an internship and residency in internal medicine at Foster G. McGaw Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. Demonstrating his early leadership potential, he was honored with the title of associate chief resident. Dr. Goodwin continued at Loyola University to complete his fellowship in cardiovascular disease, where he was again recognized for his excellence by being named chief fellow. Currently, Dr. Goodwin holds key leadership positions at Edward Hospital in Naperville, serving as the Director of the Structural Heart Program, Chief of Cardiology, and Director of the Cath Lab.
Dr. Goodwin’s commitment to excellence is reflected in his board certifications in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, critical care medicine, and endovascular medicine. He is a distinguished fellow of numerous esteemed medical societies, including the American College of Cardiology, the Society for Cardiac Angiography, the American College of Chest Physicians, and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. Additionally, he is an active member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Internal Medicine, the Illinois State Medical Society, the International Society for Endovascular Specialists, and the Society for Vascular Medicine.
