Dr. Ellen S. Flanzman brings decades of expertise in pediatrics to Westfield Pediatrics. Her strong academic background includes an undergraduate degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and a medical degree from Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was recognized for her academic excellence with election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Flanzman completed her Pediatric Internship and Residency, followed by a Chief Residency in Pediatrics, at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center (now NY Presbyterian Hospital) in New York. Board Certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP), Dr. Flanzman has been a trusted Westfield pediatrician at Westfield Pediatrics since 1993. Outside of her practice, Dr. Flanzman enjoys reading, puzzles, and staying active.
Matthew Kowalczyk, M.D., FAAP

Dr. Matthew Kowalczyk, a local to Summit, NJ, is another highly respected Westfield pediatrician at our practice. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Cornell University and his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School (now Robert Wood Johnson Medical School). His commitment to excellence was evident early in his career, receiving awards for Scientific Knowledge, Clinical Judgment, and Human Relations during his Pediatric Internship and Residency at The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Board Certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Kowalczyk returned to New Jersey after practicing in California and joined Westfield Pediatrics in 1997. His personal interests include sports, cooking, and gardening.
John N. Cavuto, M.D., FAAP

Dr. John N. Cavuto offers a wealth of knowledge and experience to Westfield Pediatrics. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Arts and Honors from Villanova University and obtained his medical degree from The Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Cavuto completed his Pediatric Internship and Residency and served as Chief Resident in Pediatrics at Georgetown University Medical Center. Furthering his specialization, he undertook Fellowships in Clinical Pharmacology at Georgetown and in Clinical Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Children’s Hospital in Boston and Massachusetts General Hospital. Board certified and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Cavuto has been providing expert pediatric care in Westfield since 1999. In his free time, Dr. Cavuto enjoys family activities, sports, and golf.

She received her medical degree from Federal University of Minas Gerais in Brazil and completed her Pediatric Residency at Evangelic Hospital in Brazil before practicing privately for 5 years. Upon moving to the United States, Dr. Chen completed a second Pediatric Residency program at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, NJ. Board Certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Chen emphasizes a patient-centered approach, focusing on healthy habits for both physical and mental well-being. Dr. Chen is fluent in Mandarin, Portuguese, and Cantonese, enhancing her ability to connect with diverse families in Westfield. She enjoys cooking and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Ann Marie Sullivan, a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP), brings extensive experience to Westfield Pediatrics. With 29 years in practice, Ann Marie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from SUNY Stony Brook / SUNY Downstate Medical Center and her Masters in Nursing from New York University, specializing in Acute Care of Infants, Children & Adolescents. She is inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, the national nursing honor society, and is a Fellow in the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. Prior to joining Westfield Pediatrics, Ann Marie worked in various pediatric settings, including hospital clinics and urgent care. She moved to Westfield, NJ in 2007 and is an integral part of our team, providing expert care and support to families.
