During a recent summer trip to Scarborough, my friend Jen and I stumbled upon something pretty cool for Sonic fans – classic Sonic plush toys in not one, but two different claw machines! We immediately recognized Sonic and his nemesis, Dr. Eggman, among the prizes.
What made these plushies particularly interesting was their design. They sported a distinctly classic look, reminiscent of the early Sonic games. We were curious if these were newly released or perhaps just new to us. A quick online search, including checking Sonic fan sites and even Sonic Gear, turned up empty. Jen, with her keen eye, spotted the name “PMS International” on a tag after a near-win with a Dr. Robotnik plush. This suggests they might be the manufacturers.
The real prize for me was the Dr. Robotnik plush – you just don’t see Classic Doctor Eggman merchandise often! I’m really hoping sites like sonicmerchandise.com or maybe even Summer of Sonic might offer these. If anyone knows where to buy these plushies, especially the elusive Dr. Robotnik, please let me know!
On a slightly different note, while in Scarborough, I also snapped some pictures of a couple of different SEGA Sonic amusement games. The picture quality isn’t the best as they were taken with my mobile, but I thought fellow fans might appreciate a peek.
