Exceptional Maternity Care at Doctors Hospital: Why Choose Us?
Doctors Hospital is proud to be a Level III Maternity Center, signifying our commitment to providing the highest level of care for both mothers and newborns. What truly sets us apart is our unique Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) birthing suites. This innovative approach means you and your family will remain in the same private, fully-equipped suite throughout your entire stay. No need to move rooms – everything you need for each stage of your birthing experience is right there.
Our commitment to excellence extends to our medical team. Doctors Hospital boasts board-certified obstetricians and experienced maternity doctors on-site 24/7, ensuring expert medical care is always readily available. For newborns requiring specialized attention, our campus houses a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), operated in partnership with the nationally renowned Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This collaboration brings world-class neonatal expertise directly to Doctors Hospital, offering peace of mind knowing your baby has access to the best possible care if needed.
Comprehensive Support for Expectant Mothers and New Families
We believe in empowering mothers to make informed choices about their care and their baby’s well-being. Doctors Hospital is the first in central Ohio to receive recognition for adhering to the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding. This initiative highlights our dedication to providing mothers with the support, information, and skills necessary to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding. Our maternity doctors and nurses are strong advocates for breastfeeding and will provide guidance and encouragement every step of the way.
To further streamline your experience, we encourage pre-registration for your hospital stay. This simple step can save you valuable time and paperwork upon arrival when you’re focused on your delivery. You can easily pre-register by calling (614) 566.1515 or online at ohiohealth.com/pre-registration.
When you arrive at Doctors Hospital, conveniently located at 5100 West Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio, entering Labor and Delivery is straightforward. During the day and early evening, simply use the main entrance and take the elevators to the second floor. For arrivals after 8:30 p.m., please use the Emergency Department entrance for seamless access to maternity services. Free parking is readily available near the main entrance for your convenience and your visitors.
Your Comfort and Care During Labor and Delivery
Upon admission, you will be welcomed into your private, state-of-the-art LDRP suite, your home away from home during this special time. These suites are thoughtfully designed with private bathrooms and showers, and comfortable sleeping arrangements for your partner, ensuring both of you can relax and focus on the arrival of your little one. For added comfort during labor, birthing balls and rocking chairs are readily available.
We understand the importance of support during labor and delivery. Therefore, we allow two support people to be by your side throughout the process. To capture these precious early moments, still photography is permitted. However, to protect the privacy and safety of all our patients and families, the use of video and digital recording devices is restricted within the Labor and Delivery and Mother/Infant units.
Welcoming Your Baby: Bonding and Immediate Care
The moment your baby arrives is truly magical. We prioritize immediate skin-to-skin contact, placing your newborn directly on your bare chest for Kangaroo Care right after birth. This practice fosters crucial bonding and offers numerous benefits for both mother and baby.
Following a normal delivery, we encourage you to keep your baby with you in your room as much as possible. This allows for uninterrupted bonding and helps establish breastfeeding if you choose to do so. Should you need rest or require additional medical attention, our nursery, conveniently located near the postpartum rooms, is available to provide expert care for your baby.
We are dedicated to making your birthing experience at Doctors Hospital Maternity Center exceptional. From our skilled maternity doctors to our comfortable and advanced facilities, we are here to support you every step of the way as you welcome your newest family member.
