Dr. Decker’s journey in medicine began in Oklahoma City, OK, where he spent his formative years. His passion for understanding the human mind led him to Southern Nazarene University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. This foundation in psychology would later complement his medical expertise, providing him with a holistic approach to patient care. Following his marriage to Lois, Dr. Decker pursued his medical aspirations at the prestigious University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center.

After successfully completing his medical degree, Dr. Decker and Lois relocated to Temple, TX, marking the next crucial step in his medical training. He undertook his Family Practice Residency at the esteemed Scott and White, a period that honed his skills in providing comprehensive healthcare to families. Family practice is a unique medical specialty that emphasizes continuous and holistic health management for every family member, considering both individual and collective well-being. To become a board-certified family physician, doctors like Dr. Decker must complete a rigorous three-year residency in family practice followed by a comprehensive Board Exam administered by The American Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Decker diligently engages in continuing education, ensuring he remains a Board Certified Diplomat of The American Academy of Family Practice, upholding the highest standards of medical excellence.

Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Decker and Lois made their home in The Woodlands, TX, where he joined Sadler Clinic. Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Decker and Lois actively immersed themselves in the local community, becoming integral members of The Woodlands United Methodist Church and The Community Clinic. Their continued involvement underscores their dedication to serving not only their patients but also the wider community.

The Decker family expanded in 2006 with the arrival of their daughter, Rianna, and later with their son, Hunter, in 2010. Dr. Decker and Lois cherish their roles as parents and consider their children a profound blessing. Outside of his medical practice and family life, Dr. Decker enjoys a variety of hobbies, including woodworking, photography, travel, and exploring the world of computers. He is deeply engaged with the Emmaus community and regularly contributes to his church by teaching Sunday school to both adults and children, and leading a Wednesday evening bible study. Demonstrating his commitment to accessible healthcare, Dr. Decker volunteers monthly at The Community Clinic, extending care to individuals from the local and surrounding areas who lack adequate resources.

Dr. Decker holds courtesy privileges at both Memorial Herman and St. Luke’s in The Woodlands, reflecting his respected standing within the local medical community. In 2004, Dr. Decker made a strategic decision to collaborate with Hospitalists for managing his hospitalized patients. This shift allows Hospitalists, who are present in the hospital throughout the day, to provide immediate responses to patient emergencies. This system ensures seamless continuity of care as Dr. Decker effectively communicates patient information with the Hospitalist team and receives detailed updates upon discharge regarding patient progress and necessary follow-up care. By entrusting inpatient management to Hospitalists, Dr. Decker dedicates his full attention and expertise to his office practice, enhancing his effectiveness in meeting the outpatient care needs of his patients.
