Starting January 3, 2023, Georgia Tech Stamps Health Services’ Primary Care Clinic is reverting to its pre-COVID operational model. This means some changes for students seeking healthcare on campus, particularly regarding appointment types and how to access services. This update clarifies how Georgia Tech students can access doctors and healthcare services at Stamps Health Services, ensuring they receive the care they need efficiently.
Back to In-Person Primary Care Appointments
The most significant change is the return to primarily in-person appointments at the Primary Care Clinic. The clinic will no longer differentiate between Respiratory Screening and Non-Respiratory appointments, simplifying the scheduling process. While telemedicine appointments will still be available, they will be limited. For most health concerns, students should expect to visit the clinic in person to see a doctor. When scheduling an appointment, students will be required to select a reason for their visit, helping the clinic manage appointments effectively and ensuring students are seen by the appropriate healthcare provider.
Scheduling Your Visit with Stamps Doctors
Booking an appointment at Stamps Health Services is straightforward. The easiest way to schedule is online through the patient portal at https://gatech.medicatconnect.com. Alternatively, students can call 404-894-1420 to schedule. Appointments become available for booking three days in advance. It’s important to remember that the Primary Care Clinic operates on an appointment basis. While walk-in patients are accepted, capacity is limited for emergent or urgent cases without prior appointments. Students who walk in without an appointment will either be scheduled for the next available slot or assessed by nursing staff to determine the urgency and appropriate appointment timeframe.
For specific needs like Routine Physical Exams and Travel Evaluations, there’s a dedicated scheduling process. Detailed instructions for these appointments can be found on the Stamps Health Services website at https://health.gatech.edu/services/primary-care. Students requiring these services should consult this page for specific guidance on how to book.
Streamlining Your Appointment Day
To ensure a smooth visit, students should arrive at Stamps Health Services 10 to 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment time. This allows sufficient time for check-in procedures before seeing a doctor. Arriving more than 5 minutes late may result in your appointment being rescheduled. Stamps Health Services utilizes mobile check-in via the Patient Portal (https://gatech.medicatconnect.com). Once you are within a tenth of a mile of the Stamps building, you can conveniently check in using your mobile device. Simply log in to the Patient Portal and click the Check-In button associated with your appointment on the homepage. This mobile check-in system is designed to save time and enhance efficiency for students visiting Stamps Health Services.
COVID-19 Testing at Stamps Health Services
Stamps Health Services continues to offer dedicated Covid-Test-Only appointments for students experiencing symptoms. These appointments are solely for COVID-19 testing and do not include a consultation with a healthcare provider. Test results are communicated to students through the patient portal. This type of appointment is suitable for students with mild to moderate symptoms who need to determine if they have contracted COVID-19 but do not require a doctor’s consultation. It is crucial to note that COVID testing at Stamps is exclusively for symptomatic individuals and should not be used for surveillance or asymptomatic post-exposure testing. Misuse of these testing appointments can hinder access for students who are unwell and require testing. Scheduling for Covid Testing appointments opens at 2:30 PM the day before the appointment. Students coming for COVID testing should enter the Stamps building and proceed directly to the lab on the first floor. Masks are mandatory for all students undergoing COVID testing within the building.
Stamps Health Services is committed to providing accessible and efficient primary care for Georgia Tech students. By understanding these updated procedures, students can effectively utilize the services offered by Stamps doctors and healthcare professionals to maintain their health and wellbeing throughout their academic journey.
