Staten Island Honors Dr. Vincent Joseph Maligno: A Vietnam Veteran’s Legacy

Assemblyman Sam Pirozzolo (R,C-Staten Island) has publicly recognized Dr. Vincent Joseph Maligno, a distinguished Staten Island resident, to commemorate Vietnam Veterans Day. This honor celebrates Dr. Maligno’s commendable service as a veteran of the Vietnam War and his enduring contributions to the Staten Island community.

Dr. Maligno, a former member of the Air Force, was presented with a proclamation acknowledging his unwavering dedication to duty, his selfless service during the Vietnam War era, and his continued commitment to the community. His service during the Vietnam War embodies the spirit of sacrifice and resilience that characterizes the nation’s veterans.

Beyond his military accolades as a Vietnam War veteran, Dr. Maligno has been a pillar of the Staten Island community. He dedicated years to education, culminating in his role as principal of Mother Cabrini High School. His community impact extends to his active involvement in numerous veteran organizations and local initiatives.

Dr. Maligno’s commitment to veterans is evident through his extensive participation in organizations such as the Andersen-Lagno VFW Post 5090, Watkins-Kellett American Legion Post 277, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 421. Furthermore, he serves as the Staten Island air liaison officer for the Air Force Academy, further demonstrating his dedication to supporting and honoring fellow veterans. Adding to his community contributions, Dr. Maligno also serves as a trustee for the Sons/Daughters of Italy in America Father Capodanno Lodge 212, reflecting his passion for his Italian heritage and its community within Staten Island.

Assemblyman Pirozzolo stated, “We must always remember and recognize the immense sacrifices made by our veterans.
