Dr. Dayton, an Idaho native with deep roots in the southeastern part of the state, is excited to join Premier Eyecare. Originally from Boise, his family connections strongly tie him to this region, with his father graduating from Sugar-Salem High School and his mother from Ucon High School. Before embarking on his optometry career, Dr. Dayton attended Ricks College in Rexburg and dedicated two years to missionary work in Belgium and France. He then pursued and completed his Biology studies at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. His formal optometry education culminated at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon, where he graduated in 1990 and was recognized for his academic excellence as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honors Fraternity.
Dr. Dayton began his professional journey practicing in Twin Falls for two years. He then spent three decades in the Treasure Valley, building a strong reputation in the field. In 2006, he established Hometown Family Eyecare in Middleton, Idaho, a practice focused on providing comprehensive primary eye care to families in the community. Simultaneously, for 16 years, Dr. Dayton also contributed his expertise part-time at The Eye Associates in Meridian, Idaho, a prominent ophthalmology practice. This role allowed him to collaborate closely with ophthalmologic surgeons and broaden his experience in eye care. Further demonstrating his commitment to the profession, Dr. Dayton mentored optometry students from 2007 to 2012 during their clinical rotations, shaping the next generation of eye care professionals. He has also shared his knowledge by lecturing at continuing medical education conferences. Since 2010, Dr. Dayton has held a distinguished position as one of only 25 consultants and speakers for a leading global contact lens manufacturer, presenting at industry events across the nation, showcasing his expertise in contact lens technology and patient care.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Dayton and his wife, Seleste Summers, who is originally from Rexburg, have built their life together in Idaho. Married for 31 years, they have a large family with six children – three sons and three daughters. They actively embrace the Idaho lifestyle, enjoying a variety of outdoor pursuits including hunting, fishing, hiking, cycling, and skiing. Adding to their local connection, they also participate in working on Grandpa’s potato farm, staying connected to the agricultural heritage of the region. Dr. Dayton expresses that he finds significant fulfillment in connecting with his patients, striving to improve their vision and overall eye health. He is enthusiastic about becoming part of the Premier Eyecare team and is eager to welcome patients in both Idaho Falls and Rexburg, offering his experienced and compassionate care to the community.
