Maintaining your health involves more than just doctor visits; it also includes understanding important processes like prescription refills and navigating billing and insurance. At Canandaigua Medical Group, our dedicated doctors and medical professionals are committed to providing you with comprehensive and patient-centered care. This guide will help you understand key aspects of our practice to ensure a smooth and efficient healthcare experience.
Prescription Refills with Canandaigua Medical Group Doctors
To ensure you consistently receive the medications you need, Canandaigua Medical Group Doctors encourage you to discuss prescription refills during your appointments. Our providers will aim to prescribe enough medication to last until your next scheduled visit. For situations requiring prescription renewals outside of appointments, please allow 48 to 72 hours for processing. To help us manage requests efficiently, we kindly ask that you avoid calling on Monday mornings, which are typically very busy. The best times to call for prescription requests are between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Tuesday through Friday.
When you contact us for prescription refills, please have the following information ready to provide to our staff:
- The name of the medication you need refilled
- Your current dosage
- How often you take the medication
Having this information readily available will help our Canandaigua Medical Group doctors and staff process your request promptly and accurately.

Canandaigua Medical Group’s Financial Policy and Your Insurance
The healthcare landscape is constantly evolving, and insurance plays a significant role in patient care. Insurance carriers may have specific guidelines that can influence aspects of your treatment, such as medication choices, specialist referrals, and the frequency of services.
It is important for you, as the patient, to be informed about your insurance coverage. We encourage you to contact your insurance company’s customer service representative before your appointment to understand your plan’s specifics. This proactive step can help prevent unexpected costs and ensure you maximize your benefits.
At Canandaigua Medical Group, co-payments are required at the time of your visit, before seeing a physician or undergoing any lab procedures in our office. We accept various payment methods, including Visa, MasterCard, checks, and cash at all of our family practice locations.
If you have insurance coverage, Canandaigua Medical Group will submit claims to your insurance provider on your behalf. After your insurance processes the claim, you may receive a statement in the mail for any remaining balance. To maintain good standing with our practice, we ask that you pay any outstanding balance within 30 days of the invoice date.
For patients without insurance coverage at the time of service, payment is required in full when services are rendered. Similarly, if you have an HMO plan that does not list a Canandaigua Medical Group physician as your Primary Care Physician (PCP), payment is expected at the time of your visit. You have the option to change your PCP by contacting your insurance company.
If you need assistance with applying for health insurance, our Financial Counseling Team is here to help. Please contact them at (585) 396-6720 or (585) 396-6015 to explore available options and guidance. We also offer payment options for self-pay patients. Please inquire with our front desk staff for more information.
